4-H Special Interest Clubs

The focus of the club meetings is on one specific project which members are all interested in, and most of the meeting is spent developing new skills that help you become very good in that one project area. In special interest clubs, you work on your project as a group as you improve your team-building and problem-solving skills. Some popular special interest clubs study robotics, cooking, shooting sports, and dozens of other topics. These clubs are open to any youth who was at least 8 years old but not yet 19 on September 1.

Here's what is currently available:

4-H Fishing Club: Saturdays, April 29 - June 3, Mercer County

Build your fishing skills in this hands-on club where you'll fish at various ponds around Mercer County. The introductory meeting will be held on Sat April 29 at 9 am at Central Park in Aledo. Following that you'll meet at ponds on Saturdays May 5-June 3 to fish from 9 - 11 am.

Stark County 4-H Archery - Sundays April 2 - May 21, Wyoming, IL

Stark County 4-H will be hosting their archery program for ages 8 to 18 at the Stark County Fairgrounds in Wyoming, IL. The dates will be Sundays, April 2, 16, 23, 30 and May 7, 14 and 21. There will be three time slots 3 pm, 4 p.m and 5 pm. Equipment is provided. The cost is free to members. New members to 4-H pay the annual $20 enrollment fee.  Register for Stark County Archery here

Stark County 4-H Shotgun Club: Mondays April 3 - May 22, Kewanee, IL

Stark County 4-H will be hosting their shotgun program for ages 10 to 18 at the Isaak Walton League, part of Baker Park in Kewanee, IL. The dates will be Mondays, April 3 through May 22. There will be two time slots - 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Equipment is provided, but you can bring your own shotgun and ammo. A fees will be assessed for clays (and ammo if you do not bring your own). 4-H Goat Club: Sundays- May 7 to July 16, East Moline, IL

You'll learn important life skills by joining the Goat SPIN Club - a learn-by-doing experience! Bring your goat, or leasing options are available -your leased goats will be waiting for you at the fairgrounds at each meeting. You'll learn how to judge and select goats, feed and manage goats, fit and show goats. The meetings are held on Sundays, May 7 - July 16, from 2-3:30 pm at the fairgrounds in East Moline. Goat club members can participate in their local county fair goat show!
Rock Island County Show day will be Friday, July 21st  at 9 am.
Mercer County Show day will be Thursday July 13th at 8 a.m.

Cost: 4-H members: $50 goat lease. Non-4-H Member's will be charged a $20 4-H program fee and a $50 goat lease. You will make the goat lease payment to the goat owner at the time of the first meeting.

Meetings are every Friday at 6:30 pm at Bi-State Sportsman Association Inc 571 Cleveland Rd, Colona, IL. $20 material fee (covers 6 weeks of classes) and $20 4-H enrollment fee (one-year 4-H enrollment September 1 to August 31). Open to youth 8 to 18.

4-H Air Rifle Club, Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m Milan, IL

Meetings are every Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the Milan Rifle Club, 9221 51st St W. Milan, IL. $25 material fee (covers 6 weeks of classes) and $20 4-H enrollment fee (one-year 4-H enrollment September 1 to August 31). Open to youth 8 to 18.
