Installation Instructions Summary
These instructions are indeed tailored for a server with root access, though shared hosting servers should not be a problem. If you are considering installing PBooks on a shared server, you might want to consider a virtual private server instead. You can read about them at Informed Hosting: [http://www.informedhosting.com/blog/virtual-private-servers.html Virtual Private Servers].
Basic Requirements
- [http://www.nexista.org/blog/ Nexista]

- PBooks Installation using XAMPP and Ubuntu
- PBooks Installation using XAMPP and Windows
- '''PBooks Installation on Debian''' <- The most up-to-date!
- Updated Installation Instructions
If the database installer script isn't working, try this: SQL Dump of PBooks Database with something like phpmyadmin.
The two initial php scripts which are called now have error reporting on, so hopefully that will help debug any installation problems.
Deprecated
For Future Reference
If you are a Perl, Python, TCL or Ruby fan, there maybe a port of PBooks to these platforms in the near future. If you're interested in this idea, please let us know in the [http://www.pbooks.org/forums/index.html forums]!
