The 4-H Green Communities Tree Program is a cooperating venture between Illinois 4-H and the IASWCD Forestry Committee to purchase, distribute, and plant new oak savannahs throughout Illinois.  By early April each year, 25 oak trees will be planted on public properties utilizing 4-H youth and adult volunteer mentors.  31 counties planted savannahs in 2022 and 38 counties are planting in 2023.

On April 10, 2023, Hancock County 4-H will be planting these trees near the ball diamonds at the Joe Grate Sports Complex in Carthage beginning at 10 AM.

Register now to be a volunteer!

If possible, please bring your own shovels and gloves, and dress appropriately for weather - the ground will most likely be muddy!
