As COVID-19 continued to impact governments, businesses, and communities, Illinois Extension's Local Government Education program increased its outreach aimed at economic investment and community vitality, workforce development, leadership, policy, equity, and resiliency. Our programs aim to help communities build capacity for innovative and informed decision-making to enhance quality of life for residents.

Last year, residents from across Illinois engaged in 60 webinars, ranging in topics aimed at enhancing leadership, economic development, equity, resiliency, and much more.

Building Government and Community Leaders

In 2021, more than 2,000 individuals learned about leadership, public service, and and community involvement.

Creating Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Communities

Extension helped more than 1,000 individuals expand their understanding of how to meet the needs of diverse or vulnerable populations.

Enhancing Economic Investments and Financial Stability

As additional federal and state assistance increased demand for investment planning and strategies, about 4,000 individuals gained instruction on utilizing opportunities and programs.

Increasing Economic Vitality and Community Resiliency

Resiliency, whether economic or environmental, never mattered more in the age of COVID-19. More than 1,000 individuals joined these conversations to sustain and strengthen their communities.
